What We Believe

  • We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. By his death and resurrection he has freed us from the power of sin, death, and the devil. His work alone saves us! (Ephesians 2:8-9)
  • We believe that God gives the blessings of his Son's work through faith in Jesus. Our good works are unnecessary because Jesus did everything to save us. (Acts 16:31)
  • We believe that Christians do good works—not to be saved, but because Jesus makes us into new people who are eager to do good. (2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:10)
  • We believe that the Word of God is verbally inspired—that is, it is word-for-word accurate and true. It was written by men, but the Holy Spirit worked through them to convey the exact message that God wants us to hear. (2 Timothy 3:15-16)
  • We believe that God works in Baptism—it is a means of grace. God gives faith and the forgiveness of sins in this sacrament. Because God does all the work and because the Bible uses language that includes everyone in the promises of Baptism, we baptize infants, children, and adults. (Matthew 28:19-20; Galatians 3:26,27)
  • We believe that Jesus' body and blood are truly present in the Lord's Supper. Jesus' words clearly tell us this. In this sacrament we receive the forgiveness of sins and all the blessings that are attached to forgiveness.  (Matthew 26:26-28; 1 Corinthians 10:16,17)
